Alexander Marks, an official of the Nevada State Education Association and a Schools Over Stadiums leader, stopped by the EFT podcast earlier this week. Marks discussed a Nevada judge’s Nov. 6 ruling that invalidated the NSEA’s referendum effort that sought to stop SB1 - state legislation that gives $380 million in Nevada taxpayer money to billionaire John Fisher for his A’s ballpark plan along the Vegas Strip.
But Schools Over Stadiums is not giving up. Instead, the organization affiliated with the Nevada teachers’ union is doubling down to stop Fisher. They plan to:
1) Appeal the recent court ruling, and;
2) Re-file for a new referendum that, if approved, could stop the A's ballpark in Vegas by removing nearly one-third of the $380 million in public money, causing the deal’s financing to collapse like a house of cards.
